Mais um tutorial da série para iniciantes. Desta vez focando plantas. O objetivo aqui nem é fazer plantas perfeitas. Mesmo buscando similaridade com plantas reais, o que procuro neste tutorial são basicamente 3 coisas:
1) Mostrar ferramentas e materiais mais comuns utilizados para se fazer plantas
2) Mostrar que dá para fazer mini-plantas a partir de materiais baratos e facilmente encontráveis em lojas de 1,99
3) Ajudar a desenvolver o "olho" para miniaturas: ver objetos de tamanho 'normal' e enxergar neles miniaturas em potencial. Isto é um exercício, um 'talento' que se aprende. Uma outra abordagem para desenvolver este 'olhar', é ver um objeto do dia-a-dia e imagina-lo enorme, 12 vezes maior! O que ele poderia ser, se fosse maior?...
And now yet another tutorial for beginners. This time I'm focusing plants. The aim here is not necessarily to make absolutely perfect miniature plants. While I do try to make them as realistic as possible, what I'm really trying to do this time is:
1) show most common tools and supplies used to make plants (potted, flower arrangements or otherwise)
2) show that it is possible to make mini-plants from inexpensive plastic or dried plants fount at dollar or craft stores.
3) help you develop an "eye" for miniatures: to look at a 'real size' object and 'see' in them a potential miniature of something else. This is an ability that can be developed, like a daily exercise. If you find it hard to imagine a different use in miniature for a daily object, try to go the other way around: picture it in your mind as 12 times as big as it actually is. What could it 'be' if it were that bigger?...

Desta vez tentei um novo meio de realizar o tutorial, através de vídeos! Sim, admito que ainda tenho muito que melhorar nesse aspecto, mas espero também que tenha conseguido transmitir o recado! :)
This time I ventured into a new medium: video tutorials! Yes, they are far from perfect, the path to perfection is a long road for me as far as videos are concerned, but I do hope I managed to convey the message! :)

O primeiro vídeo mostra as ferramentas e os materiais que usarei para montar as plantas acima. Também dou dicas de onde encontrar os materiais apresentados.

The first video shows the tools and supplies used to make the plants above. Most can be easily found, I believe.
No segundo vídeo mostro como fazer as plantas em si. Mas só as de plástico (babosa, peperomia, seringueira ornamental (?) e lavanda).
In the second video I show how to make the plants pictured above, from cheap, real-life size plastic ones (aloe vera, peperomia, rubber plant and lavender)
Finalmente, no terceiro e último vídeo desta série, mostro como fazer o vaso com flores secas e folhas de papel. Este é especial e exige uma perícia maior. Eu diria que é um estágio intermediário. Além de um cortador especial para fazer as folhas, é preciso um cuidado maior para processar as flores, as folhas e fazer a montagem. Mas a técnica que mostro é a mesma que permite aos famosos Artisans da IGMA fazerem suas maravilhosas plantas em miniaturas. Uma vez que você domine a técnica e tenha uma coleção de furadores próprios, arames apropriados, o céu é o limite! Um lugar para comprar esses furadores (só lá fora) é a
Hanky Panky. Lá você também achará arames, papel e muitos outros materiais melhores que os nacionais.
Finally, in the third and last video of this series, I show how to make the flower arrangement from dried flowers and punched leaves. This is something special and deserved a video on its own. I consider it not to be for beginners, it's more an intermediate level. Besides the need for special punches (you can find them at several stores, including Hanky Panky), you'll also need thin paper covered wires and specially treated paper. But the technique I'm showing here is the same one that allows IGMA Artisans to produce their exquisite and perfect miniature flowers. Once you master the technique and have your own collection of punches, the sky is the limit!
